JOB OVERVIEW                                                                                                        

Responsible for direct sourcing and procurement of raw materials, components, supplies and services within a manufacturing environment.  While working closely with internal departments including production planning, finance and logistics to ensure product sourcing, on-time deliveries and resolution of variances and supplier issues.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strategic sourcing, purchasing and maintaining of raw materials and stock items
• Overseeing special projects including government contracts as assigned
• Collaborate with internal departments including production, finance and logistics to ensure on-time delivery and project deadlines
• Support the development of long-term relationships with company approved vendors
• Participate in supplier negotiations and contract review
• Analyze supplier lead times, minimum order quantities and make recommendations for cost efficiencies
• Generate purchasing orders and update supplier pricing
• Participate in supplier scorecard evaluations, feedback and corrective action conversations
• Other duties as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree or Certification preferred, preferably in business, supply chain management, or related field
• 2 years relative experience in procurement/purchasing within a manufacturing environment required, 2-5 years preferred
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and ERP software (Microsoft Dynamics 365, specifically Business Central a plus)
• Strong ability to communicate and negotiate with vendors and across departments
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to learn and grow within the purchasing function
• Familiarity with inventory management systems
• Analytical mindset and problem-solving ability

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Office and chemical, liquid and aerosol manufacturing environment
• Travel between two locations infrequently but maybe necessary
