Position Summary
The Virtual Design Construction Specialist
is responsible for carrying out assigned pre-construction tasks effectively and efficiently, while adhering to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Core VDC Responsibilities:
- Identifies model related issues to the project team
- Maintains regular contact with their project team
- Produces, edits and coordinates 3D object-oriented models
- Attends and participates in virtual construction, clash detection and coordination meetings
- Seeks ways to infuse quality and labor savings into overall Building Information Modeling (BIM) efforts
- Assists in developing new ways to utilize model-based information in various phases of projects
- Has a basic knowledge of BIM software, 3D design, and construction documents
- Performs other duties as assigned by management
A VDC Specialist II is responsible for VDC Specialist I activities and the below items:
- Produces, edits and coordinates 3D object-oriented models
- Attends and participates in virtual construction, clash detection and coordination meetings
- Seeks ways to infuse quality and labor savings into overall Building Information Modeling (BIM) efforts
- Assists in developing new ways to utilize model-based information in various phases of projects
- Has a basic knowledge of BIM software, 3D design, and construction documents
A VDC Specialist III is responsible for core VDC responsibilities and the below items:
- Assists in the development of the company's BIM related goals, initiatives, and standards
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with designers, owners, and subcontractors
- Has an intermediate knowledge of BIM software, 3D design, and construction documents
- Has a basic knowledge of electrical construction
A VDC Specialist IV is responsible for core VDC/VDC III responsibilities and the below items:
- Has an advanced knowledge of BIM software, 3D design, and construction documents
- Has an intermediate knowledge of electrical construction
- Strategizes and identifies project modeling requirements
- Performs additional team development duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education
- Associate’s degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design or similar, preferred
Required
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in:
- Reading floor plans, sections, and elevations
- BIM360, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook, Navisworks, Revit, and file sharing platforms
- Demonstrated competency modeling from a 2D document to produce a 3D model
- Experience with, and proficiency in, interoffice collaboration
Preferred
- Construction experience
- Effective interoffice collaboration
- Skilled problem-solving ability and a strong sense of urgency
- Efficient organizational and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Skills & Competencies
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with design or marketing tools (Canva, Adobe, or similar) is a plus.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
Full Time Remote Work Requirements:
- Workspace must be quiet and distraction-free
- Workspace must be maintained in a safe condition, free from hazards to people and equipment
- Home internet service must be reliable and in accordance with the guidelines set forth by IT as detailed in the Remote Work Agreement
- A VPN and company required software, which may include workforce analytics or similar software, installed on company provided computer
- Full focus and attention must be given to job duties during working hours
- Appropriate child and dependent care arrangements as needed to ensure that child/dependent care responsibilities do not interfere with employee’s focus and attention to job duties and safety obligations
Additional Requirements
- Pre-employment drug screen required
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Travel to the main office may be required for training, team building, performance evaluations, etc.
- Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected for job-site visits, conferences, etc.
