We are seeking a passionate and experienced Reading Specialist to join our team and provide high-quality literacy intervention for struggling readers.
Position Overview:
The Reading Specialist will work with students individually or in small groups, delivering targeted instruction to strengthen phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. This role is perfect for an educator who is data-driven, student-focused, and skilled in structured literacy interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide explicit, systematic, and multisensory reading instruction to students in grades K-8.
- Administer and interpret diagnostic assessments (DIBELS 8th Edition, Developmental Spelling Assessment, i-Ready).
- Design individualized reading intervention plans based on student data.
- Track and report student progress through monthly progress monitoring and detailed reading reports.
- Utilize science of reading-aligned methods (e.g., UFLI, Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, and other structured literacy approaches).
- Participate in professional development and stay current with best practices in literacy instruction.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Reading/Literacy, Education, or a related field (preferred).
Reading Specialist Certification (highly preferred).
Minimum 3 years of experience teaching reading intervention or structured literacy.
Expertise in phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency instruction.
Familiarity with DIBELS, UFLI, Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, or other structured literacy programs.
Strong classroom management skills and ability to engage diverse learners.
Ability to work afternoons/evenings and occasional weekends (flexible scheduling).
