Position Summary
The Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment that supports each child’s academic and developmental growth. This role leads curriculum implementation and manages classroom operations to ensure excellence in early childhood education. A Teacher serve as positive role models and actively engage with children, families, and the broader Lightbridge Academy community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Curriculum Development – Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on the Seedlings curriculum, develop clear classroom goals, and guide Assistant Teachers to continually meet the highest standards of excellence in quality childcare, education, and safety. Execute the curriculum with fidelity and creativity to engage children across all learning domains.
- Classroom Management – Deliver quality classroom experiences by ensuring a clean, organized, and safe learning environment that promotes social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. Properly open or close the classroom/pod and follow all classroom daily routines, policies, and expectations.
- Child Engagement and Supervision – Actively acknowledge, engage, and speak to all children throughout the day. Supervise children in the classroom and the Outdoor Learning Environment, maintaining appropriate staff-to-child ratios at all times in accordance with state regulations.
- Child Assessment – Observe and assess children to create and maintain individual profiles, portfolios, and documentation through the Lightbridge Journey App, including regular updates such as sleep checks, feedings, pictures (minimum of three per week), and safety checks (e.g., name-to-face tracking).
- Basic Care Responsibilities – Provide care and support for infants and young children including diapering every two hours or per toilet training schedule, feeding according to class or individual schedules (including bottle feeding), supporting bathroom routines, and holding or carrying children as needed for comfort and safety.
- Behavior Management – Implement positive reinforcement and redirection strategies to guide behavior, in accordance with Lightbridge Academy’s Discipline Policy. Model empathy, respect, and clear boundaries consistently.
- Supervision and Mentorship – Oversee, guide, and coach Assistant Teachers by planning their work, conducting performance evaluations, holding regular team meetings, and supporting their ongoing professional development. Maintain a positive and collaborative relationship with co-workers and foster a strong team culture.
- Family Engagement – Build strong, trusting relationships with families by providing timely updates on children's progress, engaging in daily conversations during drop-off and pick-up, conducting biannual formal conferences, and responding promptly to questions and concerns.
- Compliance and Safety – Monitor children for signs of illness or distress and communicate with parents as needed. Administer first aid or medication in accordance with licensing requirements. Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Professional Development – Attend required trainings, meetings, and conferences on or off-site. Support center marketing events and classroom tours, interact with prospective families, and remain informed of best practices and standards as set by the Association of Early Learning Leaders and company audits.
- Administrative Responsibilities – Ensure classroom documentation and records are up-to-date and accurate, support classroom organization and sanitation based on Lightbridge Academy and health guidelines, and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Child Development Associate (CDA), Group Teacher qualification, or Associate’s Degree in education or related field; Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of child care experience, with classroom experience strongly preferred.
- Maintain continuing education per state and company requirements.
- CPR and Safe Infant Sleep (SID) Certified, or willing to become certified.
- Creative and Energetic – Brings enthusiasm and innovation into lesson planning and classroom activities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires the ability to perform various physical activities and maintain a high level of engagement with children in a classroom setting.
