About Us
Light of Chance, Inc. delivers the BREATHE Youth Arts Program, a free, year-round program for students in grades 5 through 12. The program empowers youth through visual arts, music, dance, yoga, and creative expression, while developing leadership, social skills, and inclusive community engagement.
As the Assistant Program Coordinator, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, inclusive arts programming, supporting operational excellence and facilitating meaningful experiences for youth and their families.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Program Coordinator in planning, scheduling and executing arts classes, workshops, community events, exhibitions, and performances.
- Prepare program materials, maintain attendance and participant records, organize and activate program spaces, and support on-site logistics (e.g., setup, check-in, cleanup).
- Serve as a welcoming and accessible point of contact for youth participants and their families—supporting communication, ensuring a positive participant experience, and facilitating engagement.
- Assist with supervision and coordination of teaching artists, program assistants, and volunteers: scheduling, onboarding, training, communication, and recognition.
- Support outreach and recruitment efforts by collaborating with local schools, community organizations, and families; help promote the program at community events and through materials.
- Collaborate with marketing/communications team to gather participant stories, photos, outcomes, and assist in creating flyers, social media posts, newsletters and other promotional content.
- Assist with data collection, tracking program outcomes, compiling reports for leadership and funders, and helping ensure compliance with program metrics and documentation.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe environment where youth from diverse backgrounds can express themselves, develop skills, and shine.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Arts Administration, Nonprofit Management, Education, Youth Development, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in program support, youth engagement, community arts or nonprofit settings.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, ability to multitask and manage several moving parts with attention to detail.
- Experience working with youth and/or families from diverse backgrounds; culturally responsive communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace or equivalent tools; comfortable with data tracking and basic report preparation.
Preferred Skills
- Background or strong interest in one or more art forms (visual arts, music, dance, yoga, creative writing).
- Event planning or budget-management experience.
- Volunteer coordination or team-lead experience.
- Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are a plus.
- Experience working in free or low-cost youth programs and/or serving underserved communities.
