LifeWork Therapy Services, LLC, is seeking to hire a part-time Industrial Sports Medicine Professional at our Hartselle, AL, location. LifeWork is a locally owned faith-based physical therapy private practice founded on community and Christian values. Job Summary
The Industrial Sports Medicine Professional conducts standardized physical abilities evaluations to determine if local job candidates can safely perform the essential physical duties of a position. This role ensures evaluations are administered consistently, objectively, and in compliance with applicable employment, occupational health, and safety regulations. LifeWork has a contractual agreement to provide these services for local industry clientele, and preference would be given to those candidates interested in helping to expand the program.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer pre-employment physical abilities tests aligned with specific job requirements according to assigned testing protocols
- Instruct candidates on correct testing procedures and ensure understanding before each task
- Observe and monitor candidates during testing to ensure proper technique, safety, and physiological response
- Follow safety protocols and respond appropriately to candidate discomfort and/or negative physiological responses during testing procedures
- Accurately measure, document, and record test results according to established protocols
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using designated software and could-based applications
- Identify and report test irregularities, candidate limitations, or safety concerns
- Create and maintain positive relationships between LifeWork, testing candidates, and contractual clientele
- Initiate, engage, and encourage testing candidates and client employees
- Remain HIPAA compliant and maintain confidentiality of all candidates’ medical and test information
- Ensure testing equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and sanitized
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards in place for each testing protocol
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of testing protocols keeping current records of all testing standards and guidelines
- Readily communicate as needed with supervisor and contractual clients to always ensure and maintain good working relationships
- Maintain personal responsibility to adhere to all client and company policies, practices, and government regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Post-secondary education or 2 years of experience in exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, sports medicine, athletic training, physical therapy assistant, occupational health, or a related field
- Appropriate certifications and/or state licenses in good standing according to federal, state, or local guidelines
- Current CPR/AED Certification preferred
- Knowledge of basic human anatomy, biomechanics, and safe lifting techniques
- Demonstrated knowledge of musculoskeletal injury care
- Ability to follow standardized testing protocols precisely and accurately
- Must meet the physical demands to demonstrate job-related physical tasks (i.e. gripping, lifting up to 50#, pushing, pulling, reaching, frequent standing, walking, sitting, and squatting)
- Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping
- Clear professional verbal and written communication
