Position Summary:
The Medical Transporter/Clerk is responsible for safely transporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to and from medical appointments, pharmacy visits, and errands as scheduled. When not assigned to transport duties, this position provides clerical and front desk support to the nursing department and assists with general office operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Transportation Duties:
- Safely transport clients to and from medical, dental, and therapy appointments, as well as errands, following agency schedules and procedures.
- Provide respectful and professional assistance to clients during transport, ensuring comfort and safety at all times.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage reports, and appointment documentation.
- Communicate promptly with nursing staff and supervisors regarding appointment outcomes, cancellations, or transportation issues.
- Ensure company vehicles are kept clean, fueled, and in good working condition.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance such as oil changes, inspections, and mechanic visits when assigned.
Clerical / Front Office Duties:
- Serve as the front desk contact for a small office setting (approximately three nurses).
- Answer and route phone calls professionally; greet visitors and receive paperwork or deliveries for the office.
- Assist nursing staff with filing, copying, scanning, and organizing medical and administrative documents.
- Support data entry or documentation tasks as directed by nursing staff or supervisors.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client and agency information in accordance with HIPAA and company policy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) preferred.
- Professional, dependable, and courteous demeanor.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and assist clients as needed during transport.
- Basic computer and clerical skills (Microsoft Office, filing, phone etiquette).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
Schedule:
Full-time, Monday–Friday.9-5pm Occasional flexibility may be required for early or late appointments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
