Overview
Lifetime Construction is seeking a subcontractor who can provide a fully qualified and OSHA-compliant telehandler operator for commercial roof tear-off operations. The subcontractor must supply both the operator and the equipment (if applicable) and demonstrate the ability to safely remove and lower EPDM membrane, DensDeck, EPS, and other roofing materials from commercial buildings.
Required Operator Credentials (Provided by Subcontractor)
The subcontractor must supply an operator who has:
- Current OSHA-compliant training and evaluation for the specific equipment being used
- Class VII (telehandler)
- Forklift training (Class I–V) if used

- Documented employer certification showing the operator has been evaluated on the actual machine type
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Commercial roof tear-offs
- Handling heavy, awkward, or flexible materials (EPDM sheets, ISO/EPS boards, DensDeck)
- Safe boom operation with suspended loads
- Ground crew communication and signaling

- Strong understanding of load charts, center of gravity, and stability
- Valid driver’s license
Primary Task Focus
The operator’s primary role will be to support commercial roofing tear-off activities, including:
- Removing EPDM membrane from low-slope roofs
- Lowering DensDeck, ISO/EPS, and debris from the roof to ground level
- Assisting tear-off crews by staging removal areas and managing debris flow
- Using the telehandler to lift, transport, and position materials or dumpsters as directed
- Supporting the production schedule by operating efficiently and safely throughout the tear-off phase
Subcontractor Responsibilities
- Provide a qualified and certified operator for all telehandler operations
- Provide their own telehandler unless otherwise arranged
- Maintain OSHA-required operator training documentation
- Ensure the operator follows Lifetime Construction’s site safety plan and communication expectations
- Inspect equipment daily and maintain safe operation throughout the project
- Coordinate closely with Lifetime Construction’s project manager and roofing crew
Lifetime Construction Responsibilities
- Provide project scope, tear-off plan, and site access guidance
- Maintain overall site safety as the controlling employer
- Verify the subcontractor’s operator qualifications
- Coordinate daily schedule, material flow, and tear-off sequencing
Work Tasks May Include
- Removing and lowering EPDM sheets
- Handling, staging, and lowering DensDeck and EPS insulation
- Transporting debris to dumpsters or designated locations
- Assisting crews during the tear-off and cleanup phases
- Light material lifting as requested by the project manager
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50.00 - $75.00 per hour
