POSITION SUMMARY:
A Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for operating equipment, monitoring the production line, following safety and quality procedures. On a continuous basis, know and understand mechanic repair and maintenance activities and observe safety rules; intermittently, analyze problem equipment; identify safety hazards; locate equipment; interpret work orders; train others to operate equipment; and explain jobs to others. The Mechanic (Mechanical and/or Electrical) performs preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical systems. They also troubleshoot faults and provide technical guidance and on-the-job coaching to the team.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Comply with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies, procedures and regulations.
- Follow safety protocols and keep a clean area while working and after work is completed.
- Maintain and repair factory equipment and other industrial machinery, such as conveying systems, production machinery, and packaging equipment including adjusting and calibrating equipment.
- Inspect and troubleshoot machines to identify issues so that necessary repairs or adjustments can be made as well as performing and executing preventive maintenance of factory equipment and other industrial machinery, conveying systems, production machinery, and packaging equipment.
- Regularly inspecting, cleaning and performing maintenance on machinery to keep it in good working order.
- Document inspections, maintenance activities and to ensure records are up to date
- Oversee the work of contractors outside the mechanical and electrical team to ensure safety requirements and operating standards are met.
- Ensure proper housekeeping of spare parts, equipment and tools.
- Oversee the work outside contractors, OEMs, or other external support vendors to ensure safety requirements and operating standards are met.
- Communicate with internal and external team members, supervision and management to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and suggest changes to enhance productivity and quality.
- Assist in planning manpower for work activities and provide on-the-job training and coaching to team members
- Complying with general Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and safety requirements.
- Participate in training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate (or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in manufacturing; experience in the cosmetic industry preferred.
- Experience in maintenance, production and manufacturing processes and techniques.
- Knowledge of machines, tools and engineering & technology principles and practices.
- Ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot production equipment and make minor adjustments as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills for maintaining logs and databases.
- Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-to-one basis as well as a group.
- Reliable and punctual.

Typical Working Environment: Work will be primarily in a production area wearing safety equipment and dealing with chemicals, constant equipment in motion and high noise levels.
