In this leadership role, you’ll oversee all component manufacturing and quality control functions, guiding team members, ensuring compliance with critical processes, and managing the full scope of activities involved in producing and distributing high‑quality blood products. You’ll mentor technicians, support continuous improvement across documentation and equipment validation, and champion the standards that keep our operations safe, consistent, and patient‑focused.
Essential Duties:
- Supervises, communicates, and assesses component management technicians
- Performs assigned duties in compliance with all organization policies, processes, and procedures.
- Leads and performs decision-making duties for component manufacturing processes and activities.
- Performs all duties of a component manufacturing technician.
- Provides expertise to handle all questions regarding component manufacturing functions.
- Performs review of component manufacturing processes related to documentation and release of quality control results.
- Evaluates and prioritizes daily/weekly workload for team members.
- Performs and documents quality control, calibration, and maintenance tasks.
- Assists with writing, reviewing, and evaluation of SOPs.
- Assists with validation of new equipment and processes.
- Promotes team member retention and professional growth by providing a positive and supportive culture and environment.
- Authority to recommend personnel decisions such as hiring, promotion, performance evaluation, coaching, disciplinary action, and terminations.
- Facilitates team member development by providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring with the coordination of leadership.
- Ensures team members have adequate training to perform designated duties.
- Maintains regular attendance and availability.
- Maintains confidentiality of LifeServe Blood Center donors, employees, financial and proprietary records, and information at all times.
Non-Essential Duties:
- May be required to perform product transportation duties if needed
- May provide supervision oversight to Product Management and Immunohematology technicians when needed.
Directly supervises:
- Component Technician I, II, III/TL
- Hospital Services Technician/TL
- Hospital Services Cross Technician/TL
Hours:
- Full time, exempt.
- Typical M-F, daytime hours, with ability to flex to nights, overnights, weekends, holidays to ensure smooth 24/7 operations.
Education and/or experience:
- Associate's degree in laboratory science required.
- Minimum of two (2) years clinical laboratory experience or production manufacturing (pharma related) experience required.
- Additional MLT (or equivalent certification) preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science preferred.
Physical Requirements:
These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Sit, stand, walk, twist/turn, stoop/bend, squat, balance, reach/work above shoulders, use of hands/wrists to include fine motor skills and machinery usage, forearm rotation, lifting/carrying 26-50 lbs.
