Position Summary

We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Caregivers/Direct Support Staff to provide direct care and support to adults residing in a licensed Adult Residential Facility (ARF). Our program specializes in supporting adults with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and other developmental, physical, mental, and behavioral health needs.

The Caregiver/Direct Support Staff plays a critical role in promoting each resident’s dignity, independence, safety, and quality of life while ensuring compliance with Title 22 regulations and individualized care plans.

Experience working with individuals who have traumatic brain injuries (TBI) is highly preferred but is not required. We are willing to train compassionate individuals who have a genuine desire to make a positive impact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Subject to change and not limited to)

❖ Provide compassionate, person-centered care in accordance with each resident’s Individual Service Plan (ISP).

❖ Demonstrate a willingness to serve all residents in care without bias, ensuring equal attention, support, and respect individuals

Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: (Subject to change and not limited to)

❖ Bathing

❖ Dressing

❖ Grooming

❖ Toileting

❖ Personal hygiene

❖ Mobility and transfers (when applicable)

❖ Prepare nutritious meals and snacks while following physician-ordered diets and nutritional guidelines.

❖ Assist residents with medication administration as directed by facility policies and medication training.

❖ Monitor residents for changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral conditions and promptly report concerns to the Facility Administrator or Manager.

❖ Provide supervision and behavioral support using positive reinforcement and trauma-informed care practices.

❖ Encourage residents to develop and maintain independent living skills.

Transport and accompany residents to: (Subject to change and not limited to)

❖ Medical appointments

❖ Community outings

❖ Recreational activities

❖ Shopping

❖ Educational or vocational programs

❖ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe home environment by completing daily housekeeping responsibilities.

Complete accurate, timely, and detailed documentation including:

❖ Daily progress notes

❖ Medication Administration Records (MARs)

❖ Incident reports

❖ Shift reports

❖ Documentation must be objective, legible, completed within required timeframes, and in full compliance with Title 22 regulations and facility policies

❖ Ensure resident rights, confidentiality, and dignity are always protected.

❖ Follow all Title 22 regulations, facility policies, infection control procedures, and emergency protocols.

❖ Communicate respectfully and professionally with residents and their families at all times, recognizing and honoring individual differences and needs.

❖ Communicate effectively with management, healthcare professionals, families, case managers, social workers, doctors, and any advocate for the resident as part of the interdisciplinary team.

❖ Participate in staff meetings and required trainings.

❖ Be available to cover shifts as needed and participate in an on-call rotation to ensure continuous, high-quality care for residents.

Qualifications:

❖ High school diploma or GED required.

❖ At least 18 years of age.

❖ Previous caregiving, direct support staff, healthcare, or residential experience preferred.

Experience working with adults with traumatic brain injuries (TBI), developmental disabilities, behavioral health diagnoses, or physical disabilities is a plus but not required.

❖ Experience supporting individuals with behavioral challenges, within the blind community, or with mental health needs is highly desirable.

❖ Compassionate, patient, dependable, and professional required

❖ Strong communication and problem-solving skills required

❖ Ability to work independently and as part of a team required

❖ Ability to remain calm during emergencies and challenging behaviors required

❖ Must be able to maintain confidentiality required

❖ Positive attitude and strong team player mindset required

❖ Ability to advocate effectively for residents and support their needs required

  • Required Certifications and Requirements: (Subject to change and not limited to)
  • ❖ Must maintain a valid California Driver’s License at all times with a clean driving record.
  • ❖ Proof of automobile insurance (if transporting residents).❖ Willingness to use personal vehicles for transportation when needed; mileage reimbursement provided.
  • ❖ CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).❖ Current TB clearance.
  • ❖ Criminal background clearance (Live Scan).

❖ Physical examination as required by Community Care Licensing.

❖ Ability and agreement to complete any and all required and ongoing ARF trainings, including initial and continuing education requirements.

❖ Demonstrated willingness to serve all residents and uphold respectful communication standards with residents and their families.

Physical Requirement’s; (Subject to change and not limited to)

❖ Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift as needed.

❖ Ability to assist residents with mobility and transfers as needed.

❖ Ability to respond quickly during emergencies.

❖ Ability to work indoors and outdoors during community activities.

Willingness to be on call and respond to staffing needs as they arise.❖ Cover shifts to meet business needs

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
