The Clinical Supervisor for the Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT) oversees implementation of the YCOT program ensuring immediate support to children and youth experiencing a mental health crisis along with their caregivers and families. The YCOT Supervisor oversees training requirements and service delivery of YCOT workforce to ensure effective, trauma informed, and child/family centered crisis intervention, screening, referral, relapse prevention, and follow-up monitoring services. The YCOT Supervisor coordinates with iCare, the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT), emergency departments, Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), schools, probation, and law enforcement for referrals, collaboration, as well as offers training and education about the YCOT program to community partners and stakeholders.

Specific supervisor responsibilities include, but not limited to : establish work schedules for team members ensuring sufficient coverage during peak hours; continually assess peak hours for expansion of program coverage; approving paid time off and bi-weekly time sheet approval of team members while ensuring coverage is not disrupted; responsible for completing performance evaluations and personnel action of team members; monitors fidelity standards and review team documentation; holds regular team meetings, and provides clinical supervision based on credential requirements for each team member.

The YCOT Supervisor may also provide direct services through co-response with team members for crisis intervention, completion of follow-ups, and intakes into full services.

Specific targets include : tracking and submitting quarterly reports; meets or exceeds contract performance standards (follow-up within 7 days of crisis episode; effective crisis response); at least 90% of youth are connected to ongoing supports and treatment options including full level of care within 30 days of crisis episode; responds to calls immediately, with emergent call response within one hour; ensures youth and families are followed for at least 90 days post crisis episode; other duties as assigned to meet program needs.

Qualifications

Education, Training, & Experience (including licensure & certification)

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA): LPC, LCSW, Licensed Psychologist, or LMFT; consideration of provisional license IF full, unrestricted license received within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in community mental health working with children & youth having severe persistent mental illness and substance use disorders that includes crisis services.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience implementing new programs highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations governing crisis services for children and youth.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and strategies.
  • Knowledge of the Texas crisis response requirements, including Info Item V, UM guidelines, Texas Administrative Code
  • Write clearly and professionally on all services and internal communication
  • Think clearly and logically to deal with potentially dangerous and/or emotional situations.
  • Respond to individuals with patience, empathy and understanding
  • Self-starter who works closely with all team members and takes initiative in completing tasks.
  • Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Organized, detail oriented, computer proficient, and able to prioritize appropriately.
  • Maintain professional boundary with those they oversee and with other management staff and demonstrate collaborative relationships.
  • Effectively lead staff by improving attitudes, motivation, and service excellence.
  • Display and encourage high standards of honesty, integrity, and respect for others.
  • Consistently demonstrate a positive attitude.
  • Ability to plan, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of staff
  • Knowledge of the various community resources and providers within the LifePath Systems service area including (but not limited to) supportive housing and employment, shelters, food banks, social service agencies, charities, medical and behavioral health providers, and other necessary resources to meet youth and family needs.
