Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Gastroenterology Technician to join our specialised healthcare team. This role involves supporting gastroenterologists during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Duties
- Assist gastroenterologists during endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopies and gastroscopies
- Prepare and sterilise equipment in accordance with health and safety standards
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and comfort levels throughout procedures
- Ensure accurate documentation of procedures and patient information
- Support with patient preparation, including explaining procedures and providing reassurance
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the procedure rooms and equipment storage areas
- Adhere to infection control protocols at all times
- Assist with post-procedure care, including patient recovery and discharge instructions
Experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably within gastroenterology or endoscopy units, is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to gastrointestinal health is desirable
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Compassionate demeanour with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Basic understanding of sterilisation techniques and infection control procedures
