General Summary: The Rehabilitation Technician assists licensed staff with patient treatments. Ensures that department is kept clean and organized. Assists with equipment maintenance and cleaning of supplies. Acts in team member capacity to help the patients, staff members, and the hospital achieve their goals. The Rehabilitation Technician is actively involved in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and LifeCare activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to LifeCare Hospital.
Patient Population: Has contact with patients in a clinical setting; understands and demonstrates appropriate behavior when interacting with patients in the adult (18-65 yrs of age) and geriatric (65 and older) populations.

- The knowledge and skills necessary to perform the position requirements are demonstrated through the successful completion of competencies established for the position, to include population served and other special needs of patients or customers, served by the department.
- Adheres to LifeCare policies, procedures, all safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations.
- Regular attendance and timeliness is required.
- Implements treatment plans in a cost-effective manner, designed to help patients function independently under the supervision of the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist. Communicates patient progress to the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist to achieve maximum benefit. Maintains and promotes positive attitude toward patients and their treatment programs.
- Ensures patient safety at all times by notifying the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist, assigned nurse, or nursing supervisor, of any risk factors seen, initiating, and maintaining appropriate safety measures.
- Accurately completes all appropriate documentation and paperwork in a timely manner. Communicates changing patient needs to the Physical Therapist and/or Occupational Therapist, physician, and nursing supervisor as appropriate.
- Provides education pertaining to physical therapy or occupational therapy techniques to patients and families.
- Plans/organizes work to maintain caseload, effectively schedule patient treatment sessions, maintains patient records. Assures that equipment is maintained and is in clean and working order. Reports equipment maintenance and/or repair timely.
- Maintains open communication with the therapy team on patients’ performance and progress.
