Summary
The Health System Medication Access Coordinator plays a vital role in helping patients to overcome financial and other access barriers preventing them from obtaining the medications they need. The Medication Access Coordinators work to evaluate resources that might be available to uninsured or under-insured patients, ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance, upholding patient confidentiality and prioritizing patient dignity and medication access. The coordinators collaborate closely with providers, nursing, care management, retail pharmacy, insurance companies, patients and their caregivers to connect eligible patients to available financial and medication assistance programs and funding. Individuals in this role may also support the completion and submission of prior authorizations for prescription medications when necessary to overcome medication access barriers.
The individual in this role would be required to conduct thorough patient interviews, reviewing health and prescription insurance, financial status, and required documentation. Coordinators collect patient information from within the patient chart in the electronic health record and document activities within the patient chart.

- pharmacy technician with 3 years retail experience; 2 years hospital pharmacy experience - Maryland registration required; PTCB national cert required.
