Adjunct Faculty, Business (3529)

Life University is looking for an experienced, highly committed individual to serve at our Marietta, Georgia campus as an Adjunct Faculty member in the business program.  The successful candidate will fulfill the educational mission of the department, the college and the university in cooperation with the other members of the department and others in the university community. In addition to teaching face-to-face classes in various day and evening times, the adjunct faculty member will follow the curriculum set by the department. The adjunct faculty is responsible for managing, responding to and resolving reports and allegations of violations, as well as assessing the effectiveness of the University’s conduct system.  Life University has developed and implemented an Honor Code and Standards of Conduct, which serve as a set of expectations for the living and learning environment provided by the University.

Responsibilities

1. Comply with the Life University Honor Code as well as all university and college policies, including those in the Faculty Handbook.
2. Primarily responsible for the instruction, supervision and evaluation of students in the classroom and/or laboratory setting as well as course assessments for the department.
3. Prepare a syllabus for each course taught using the college template and post it to the class on the Blackboard site after approval from the Program Coordinator.
4. Utilize strategies to relate technology concepts from class in a meaningful way to a range of students, especially for non-business majors.
5. Teach class in a professional manner, teaching the material that is present in the syllabus and course outline while complying with guidance from the Program Coordinator.
6. Start and end each class on time.
7. Post in a prominent place your teaching and student office hours schedule for each quarter.  (One student hour is required weekly per class in addition to class time). Be present during student office hours.  Office hours are for the primary purpose of communicating with students regarding the courses you are teaching.
8. Appropriately maintain all necessary records for each course taught.
9. Submit IT work order requests as needed to address repairs and maintain the computer lab in optimum condition.
10. Request peers to assist you in proctoring exams in very large classes.  For large classes, every exam should have at least one proctor and the instructor present.
11. Attend scheduled meetings and events as appropriate and as requested by supervisor or program coordinator.
12. Cultivate in oneself and others an attitude of helpfulness, personal commitment to building relationships, managing to the best solution, and user friendly always.

Requirements

1. Minimum of a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or a masters degree in a related discipline.
2. Substantial industry experience and industry Certification(s) preferred.
3. Significant experience teaching face-to-face technology courses at the college level.
4. Availability for travel to the Marietta campus multiple days throughout the week, with preference given to those with daytime schedule availability.
5. Strong teaching and laboratory skills for face-to-face classes. (This position is not primarily for online classes.)
6. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
7. Commitment to maintain confidentiality in regard to students/employee information.
8. Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhering to strict timelines.
9. Strong interpersonal skills.
10. High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
11. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
