We are hiring a full-time postion for Lapeer County!
As an Employment Specialist at Life Skills Centers, Inc., you will play a vital role in helping individuals achieve their employment goals. Located in a supportive environment, you will assist clients in developing the skills necessary for successful job placement, work readiness, and community involvement.
Responsibilities
- Assess clients' skills and interests to develop personalized employment plans.
- Provide training and support in job search techniques, resume writing, and interviewing skills.
- Collaborate with local employers to identify job opportunities suitable for clients.
- Mentor clients throughout the employment process to ensure their success and satisfaction.
- Educate clients about their rights under employment labor laws and assist them in navigating workplace challenges.
- Facilitate workshops on topics such as workplace etiquette, communication skills, and professional development.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (Associates Degree with 2 years related experience, preferred).
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in an employment setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interaction.
- Ability to provide mentorship and support to diverse populations.
- Will be required to occasionally drive clients to appointments, job interviews, or job locations.
- Will be required on occasions to work nights and/or weekends within a flexible 40 hour per week schedule.
Qualifying Applicants must provide the following: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), valid Michigan Driver’s License with good driving record, pass a physical, 60lb lift test, drug screen and TB test. Candidate must have good moral character, including a clear criminal background check and ability to successfully complete all initial orientation and agency training within the timelines specified.
