Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
Life Skills Academy is a nonprofit "special needs" school that offers a unique model of education, therapy (speech, occupational, physical), and vocational training to children in PK - 12th grade.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The PTA works under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist (PT) to help students improve their movement, strength, and functional abilities through structured therapy programs.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Associate's Degree from a CAPTE-accredited program.
- Active license through the Florida Department of Health.
DUTIES OF POSITION:
- Assist in implementing physical therapy treatment plans designed by the PT.
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to improve strength, coordination, mobility, and overall function.
- Monitor student progress and document responses to therapy interventions.
- Educate students, staff, and families on exercises and techniques to support mobility and physical development.
- Follow the PT's direction in using therapy equipment and adaptive tools.
- Ensure compliance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
- Collaborate with the educational and therapy team to support student goals.
