Towing Dispatcher

Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Towing Dispatcher to coordinate vehicle recovery and towing operations efficiently. In this dynamic role, you will serve as the central communication hub for towing requests, dispatching tow trucks promptly while ensuring compliance with transportation regulations. Your expertise in transportation management systems, logistics, and customer service will drive smooth operations, enhance customer satisfaction, and support the overall fleet management process. Responsibilities

• Receive and prioritize towing requests via multi-line phone systems, internal communication channels, and digital platforms.
• Dispatch tow trucks using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or Vehicle dispatch software.
• Coordinate with drivers, customers, and third-party logistics providers (3PL) to ensure timely vehicle recovery and delivery.
• Maintain accurate data entry of all dispatch activities, including detailed logs of freight, vehicle status, and incident reports.
• Monitor GPS and GIS tools to track fleet locations and optimize routing for efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with drivers and customers to provide updates, manage expectations, and resolve issues promptly while adhering to DOT regulations and phone etiquette standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams on shipping & receiving, fleet management, and logistics planning to streamline road transportation operations.

Requirements

• Proven experience in dispatching within road transportation operations or logistics environments.
• Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), vehicle dispatch software, Oracle Transportation Management, AS400, SyteLine or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with GPS, GIS technology, and supply chain processes related to freight movement.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
• Exceptional communication skills for phone call management, internal communication, and customer service interactions.
• Ability to analyze data effectively using Microsoft Office tools such as Excel or other analysis software.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations governing vehicle dispatching and freight safety standards.
• Experience with shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management practices, and 3PL coordination is preferred.
• Strong typing skills combined with proficiency in transportation planning software like Transportation Management Systems (TMS).

Pay: $23.88 - $28.76 per hour
