Position Summary
The Elijah House is seeking a Virginia-certified CSAC or CSAC-Supervisee to provide case management and substance use counseling in an ASAM Level 3.5 residential treatment program.
This position supports residents from admission through discharge, including assessments, treatment planning, individual counseling, group facilitation, utilization reviews, clinical documentation, and continuing-care coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete resident intakes, admission paperwork, and program orientation.
- Provide individual substance use counseling.
- Facilitate clinical groups focused on relapse prevention, coping skills, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, and recovery support.
- Develop and update person-centered Individualized Service Plans.
- Complete accurate progress notes and clinical documentation in Valant on the day services are provided.
- Prepare and submit initial and continued-stay authorization requests.
- Track authorization dates and communicate payer concerns or denials.
- Maintain complete, confidential, and audit-ready resident records.
- Coordinate discharge planning and community-based aftercare.
- Respond appropriately to clinical and behavioral concerns.
Required Qualifications
- Active Virginia CSAC certification or CSAC-Supervisee registration in good standing.
- Experience providing substance use counseling and facilitating groups.
- Ability to complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Familiarity with ASAM criteria and DBHDS requirements.
- Ability to pass required background checks and screenings.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and Narcan/REVIVE! certifications—or ability to obtain them within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an ASAM Level 3.5 residential treatment program.
- Experience with Medicaid/MCO authorizations and utilization reviews.
- Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and medication-assisted treatment.
- Training in motivational interviewing, CBT, or other evidence-based substance use treatment approaches.
- Experience using Valant or a similar electronic health record system.
CSAC-S candidates will receive documented clinical supervision toward certification.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
