Job Overview
The Residential Counselor plays a vital role in providing support and care to residents within a residential setting, ensuring their safety, well-being, and overall quality of life. This position involves working closely with individuals who may have developmental disabilities, dementia, or other related conditions. The Residential Counselor will assist residents with daily living activities and foster a supportive environment that promotes independence and dignity.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide personal care and support to individuals in assisted living, nursing homes, or group home settings.
- Monitor and document vital signs and health changes in residents.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure compliance with medication schedules.
- Engage residents in meaningful activities to promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
- Implement behavior management strategies to support residents with challenging behaviors.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for all residents by performing light cleaning duties.
- Utilize EMR systems for accurate record keeping and communication regarding resident care.
- Drive residents to appointments or community activities as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and social workers to develop individualized care plans.
Skills
- Experience in senior care or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care, dementia care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Proficiency in first aid techniques and CPR certification is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Hoyer lifts and other mobility assistance devices is beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with residents and their families.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate approach to caregiving that respects the dignity of each resident.
- Experience in home & community care or personal care homes is a plus. This position requires dedication to enhancing the lives of those we serve while ensuring their safety and comfort in a residential setting.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $21.08 - $25.39 per hour
