PURPOSE / GENERAL DUTIES

 

Reporting to the Director of Campus Operations, the Campus Maintenance Technician/Specialist is responsible for performing   skilled maintenance and repair work across campus facilities. This employee supports the upkeep and functionality of buildings, systems, and equipment, including general repairs, preventative maintenance, and special projects. The role collaborates closely with departments across campus to ensure safe, efficient, and well-maintained physical spaces that support daily operations and long-term campus needs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Primary duties of this position include but may not be limited to the following:

  • Responsible for the physical operations, maintenance and repairs of campus buildings, equipment and grounds including management/supervision of staff and student employees.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on buildings, equipment, and facilities
  • Conduct repairs involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, HVAC (basic), and general troubleshooting
  • Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Respond to maintenance requests and emergency repairs in a timely manner
  • Inspect facilities regularly to identify safety or maintenance issues and proactively resolve them
  • Assemble furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed
  • Maintain organized inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Assist with seasonal work such as landscaping and weatherproofing
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and building codes
  • Maintain proper administrative records for all areas of responsibility. Manage and store architectural drawings and construction specs for building projects.
  • Responsible for supply, distribution, maintenance, retrieval and recordkeeping for keys to all campus properties.
  • Facilitate and maintain campus storage areas.
  • Assist Information Technology department with installation of computer and telephone systems.
  • Actively integrate Christian faith into professional practice and model Christian   example for students as an effective role model of a Christian life.
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned by Supervisor or his/her designee.


NOTE: Though not required, this position is optionally eligible for appointment as a Foursquare minister under certain conditions. If   appointed as a minister, the employee will be available to provide pastoral care and prayer. In addition, s/he may be called upon to perform sacerdotal   duties upon request of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum requirements

  • A vibrant and authentic Christian faith and worldview consistent with the University’s Statement of faith which all employees are required to sign.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
  • Two or more years of supervisorial experience including hiring, training, teambuilding performance management, etc.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret building plans, reports, budgets, and other technical materials. Must possess a   functional knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, mechanical and blueprint reading.
  • Experience developing and monitoring budgets including forecasting/research/analysis to control costs,   increase efficiencies, eliminate overruns, and monitor expenditures for the Facilities management department.
  • Experience working in higher education, or a campus-like environment. A passion for working within an academic community and a commitment to higher education is desirable. 
  • Ability to build effective  working relationships with internal and external constituents/excellent supervisory and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Comfortable working with technology on a regular basis including Microsoft Office and security system software.
  • Ability to manage all facilities areas, working with state and federal laws and regulations, and facilities compliance requirements.
  • Strong service orientation and a demonstrated desire to continually improve the services and operations of an organization.
  • Must possess a valid CA driver’s license and be able to obtain a Class B license.
