Academic Support Center Assistant
PURPOSE / GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Assist the ASC Coordinator and the Office of Academic Affairs in the daily operations of the Academic Support Center (ASC). The Academic Support Center Assistant will take responsibility for some of the basic tutoring and writing services the ASC provides to undergraduate students, both in-person and online. The assistant will also help manage the ASC by performing basic office duties such as filing, data collection, and promoting the ASC and its resources to LPU students. Additionally, the role includes working with probation students by teaching the Principles of Christian Scholarship (PCS) courses, in collaboration with the support center. This position also provides targeted academic support and coaching to undergraduate students enrolled in online program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
General Academic Support Center (ASC) Responsibilities
- Reports directly to the ASC Coordinator, with dotted line to Library Director and the Academic Office.
- Perform daily office functions, including but not limited to answering and routing phone calls, organizing and maintaining both electronic and physical files, and providing general administrative support.
- Provide a welcoming and helpful environment for walk-ins and others seeking assistance.
- Tutor B.A. or A.A. students when the ASC Coordinator is unavailable for appointments.
- Edit and provide feedback on student papers as assigned by the ASC Coordinator.
- Assist in creating content for the Support Moodle Page (e.g., researching learning topics, creating PowerPoints, videos, PDFs).
- Support ASC promotion by creating and posting content for social media and printed materials (e.g., posters, flyers).
- Assist the ASC Coordinator in collecting and organizing data such as survey results and student demographics for reporting purposes.
- Assist the ASC Coordinator and faculty with English courses at LPU by providing tutoring, writing coaching, instructional support (including teaching if qualified), or general assistance, with the goal of promoting student success.
- Teach Principles of Christian Scholarship courses to students admitted on academic probation.
Online Undergraduate (OUG) Academic Support
- Provide retention and academic persistence support to students enrolled in online undergraduate programs.
- Provide one-on-one academic coaching to help students successfully complete their degree.
- Collaborate with the Registrar, ASC, and OUG team to deliver coordinated academic support. Summer Life Bridge Program
- Aid in promoting and communication with potential Bridge Program students for registrations.
- Assist in programming of the program (i.e. special events, classes, study halls, meals with students, opening and closing activities, move in day, etc.).
- Assist in planning and debriefing of Life Bridge Program with ASC Coordinator and Librarian.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of the Academic Support Center. (Workshops, Residency week, ASC graphics and videos, etc.)

Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Higher education experience preferred.
- Experience in both tutoring and customer service is helpful.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft operating system software environment and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Access.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, even in a busy or interrupted work environment.
- Strong teamwork skills, including the ability to communicate and cooperate with others to achieve common objectives.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Self-motivated and collaborative working style.
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time and the ability to visually inspect files as they are digitized to ensure clarity and completeness.
- Demonstrated Christian faith consistent with Life Pacific’s Pentecostal/Charismatic and Wesleyan Arminian stance (must be able to sign Life Pacific’s Statement of Faith and align with its position on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity).
Though not required, this position is optionally eligible for appointment as a Foursquare minister under certain conditions. If appointed as a minister, the employee will be available to provide pastoral care and prayer. In addition, s/he may be called upon to perform sacerdotal duties upon request of the University.
