LIFE, Inc. - New Bern is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide exceptional care and support to clients in New Bern, NC. This role offers a competitive compensation of $17.50 per hour, paid bi-weekly, and requires a compassionate individual committed to enhancing the well-being and independence of those we serve. The position involves working every other weekend from 7 AM to 3 PM on the first shift.
Responsibilities
- Assist and monitor clients while dressing, bathing, toileting, and in all other aspects of self-care.
- Assist and monitor clients during meals to ensure utilization of family style dining.
- Assist and monitor clients in all aspects of housekeeping responsibilities (Clothing care, house cleaning, and yard care).
- Assist and monitor clients in preparing meals and nutritional supplements.
- Assist and monitor clients in the administration of prescribed medication without error.
- Assist and monitor clients in the implementation of prescribed diet orders and utilization of adaptive equipment.
- Implement and follow all established behavior programs, data collection, and established safety procedures.
- Assist and monitor clients in appropriate active treatment including training objective plans, recording data, and implementing service goals.
- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team and communicate appropriate client information as directed by supervisory staff.
- Transport and monitor clients on Company vehicles as directed.
- Assist and monitor clients during community outings.
- Assist and monitor clients during participation at school and day program activities.
- Attend staff development classes as scheduled and successfully complete required competency testing (MANDT, CPR, First Aid, Safe Van Driving, Promotion of Consumer Well Being, Cultural Competency and Medication Administration).
- Ensure that work area and company vehicles are clean, safe, secure, and well maintained.
- Perform other duties as assigned by managers.
Requirements
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
- NC Driver's License.
- 21 years of age or older.
- No previous experience required.
