Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive bereavement programs tailored to diverse patient and family needs, including individual and group therapy sessions.
- Conduct thorough assessments of grief reactions, mental health status, and emotional needs using diagnostic tools aligned with ICD-10 coding standards.
- Provide evidence-based counseling modalities such as psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and grief counseling to support emotional healing.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to foster open dialogue, motivate positive coping strategies, and facilitate behavioral change.
- Coordinate crisis intervention efforts for families experiencing acute grief or trauma, ensuring timely access to mental health resources.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including detailed notes on patient care, assessments, and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including social workers and chaplains.
- Engage in clinical research initiatives related to grief and bereavement care to continually improve program effectiveness.
Experience
- Proven experience in clinical counseling or social work within hospice or palliative care settings is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in grief counseling, trauma response (including PTSD care), crisis management, and behavior management techniques.
- Familiarity with medical records systems and medical documentation standards—especially HIPAA compliance—is required.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using medical terminology within inpatient or outpatient settings; experience in special education or working with individuals with disabilities is advantageous.
