Electronic Warfare Systems Technician

Position Summary:
As an Electronics Warfare Systems Technician you will provide technical assistance to the shipboard crews in the operation, inspection, problem identification, troubleshooting and maintenance of Electronic Warfare Systems (EWS) aboard U.S. Navy ships as a representative of Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC). You will interface with U.S. Navy civilian engineers, program managers and logisticians, and equipment manufacturers. You will receive daily work assignments from the SWRMC Branch Head. Additional duties may include logistics, material, and safety responsibilities.

Clearance Required:
  • Must be a US Citizen with an Active Secret Clearance

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Direct, oversee repair activities, train, troubleshoot, diagnose, and maintain the following:
    • AN/SLQ-32(V6-V7) Electronic Warfare Systems
    • LEGACY SLQ (V1-V4)
    • Mk36 Decoy Launching System (SRBOC)
    • Mk53 NULKA Decoy Launching System (DLS)
    • AN/SSX-1 Signal Emitter Intercept
    • Associated LINUX based software and networks
    • Joint Tactical Terminal (JTT)
  • Provide technical support for procurement, installation, at-sea testing, preventive/corrective maintenance, and lifecycle management of systems.
  • Interpret technical manuals, apply repair standards, and maintain accurate technical documentation.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associated Navy 'C' Schools
  • 6 years of related experience with shipboard systems and associated systems
  • Experience in Battle Force Electronic Warfare Trainer (BEWT) or Surface Electronic Warfare Team Trainer (SEWTT), desired but not required.
  • Strong technical comprehension with the ability to read and interpret manuals and standards.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with hand tools and multi-meters.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related technical applications.
  • Knowledge of 3M
  • Fiber Optics Technician Certificate
  • CompTIA Security or bachelor's degree in CS, IT, Engineering, or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or IT equivalent in lieu of Navy Schools and experience

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • OSHA 10
  • CPR

Physical Demands and Expectations:
  • Able to travel 10%.
  • Regular physical activity, including walking, climbing stairs, and standing; frequent periods of prolonged sitting may be required.
  • Ability to work in an industrial shipboard/shipyard environment, climb shipboard ladders and wear all required safety equipment.
  • Able to lift (up to 50lb), carry, and transport heavy equipment and materials required for the job.
  • Able to meet U.S. Navy ship rider requirements.
  • Maneuvering around tight spaces in a shipboard environment
  • Ability to speak, read, hear, and write, with or without assistance.
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax, and other office equipment.
