As a Cash Application Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity of our organization by accurately processing payments, reconciling accounts, and resolving discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payment Processing: Post payments received via Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT), lockbox files, insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB), and manual checks or credit cards into the billing system.
- Reconciliation: Balance daily cash batches to remittance advices and reconcile posted checks against actual bank deposits.
- Adjustments & Denials: Process contractual adjustments, write-offs, and insurance denials in accordance with company policies and federal/state regulations.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Identify and resolve overpayments, underpayments, and unidentified receipts. This includes researching misapplied payments and contacting payers to resolve application issues.
- Experience: 2 years in Cash Application or Accounts Receivable with a track record of meeting closing KPIs.
- Accounting Logic: A strong understanding of how cash applications impact the broader financial statement and the importance of a timely close process.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and strong typing skills.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Time Management: Proven ability to manage high transaction volumes while meeting rigid daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
- Professionalism: A positive attitude with a high degree of accountability, flexibility, and the initiative to master new tasks.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to recognize A/R trends, multi-task, and solve complex billing problems independently.
