DESCRIPTION
Currently casting non-union actors for a reading of Lizzie Borden: Life After Death, an original play written by William Meurer, and directed by Jess Reed. The reading will be presented as part of the Spotlight New Works Fest (www.spotlightnewworksfest.com.) on Monday, June 29th at 7:30pm at the Chain Theater (312 W 36th St., New York, NY)

Submissions will be closed at 11pm EDT on Friday, April 24th. Rehearsals will be scheduled around actor availability to the best of production's ability. Rehearsals will be primarily virtual, with 1 in person rehearsal prior to tech. All actors must be available for a 1 hour, in person, tech rehearsal at the Chain on June 29th at 1:30pm. Actors of all genders, ethnicities, sizes, and abilities are strongly encouraged to audition. All participants will be paid a $100 stipend.
Synopsis:
In 1892, Lizzie Borden gained worldwide notoriety after being acquitted for the brutal axe murders of her father and stepmother. Thirteen years later Lizzie (now known as Lizbeth) lives with her sister in their beautiful mansion on the hill where they try to forget the shadows of their past. However, when an all too familiar face arrives at Maplecroft, Lizbeth must relive her past and choose which secrets are worth keeping
Cast Breakdown:
Lizbeth/Lizzie Borden - 30s/40s - The alleged murderer of her father and step-mother.
Emma Borden - 40s/50s - Lizbeth’s sister.
Nance O’Neil - 30s - Lizbeth’s friend, an actress.
Bridget Sullivan - 30s/40s - The Bordens’ former maid. (Must have Irish dialect.)
Hannah Nelson/Abby Borden - 60s - The housekeeper of Maplecroft/ Lizbeth and Emma's stepmother.
Doctor Bowen - 60s - A doctor from Fall River/ Lizbeth and Emma's father.
Stage Directions- Any - Will also act as a swing for the principle roles.
