Student Advocate The Licking Regional ESC has an immediate opening for the position of Student Advocate to serve in the Newark City School District. A student advocate is responsible for providing guidance and advocacy to students and promoting the five core Social Emotional Learning Competencies of Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making to help them reach their full potential. Build trusting relationships with students, assess and define challenge areas, develop goals and provide accountability and encouragement. Link students and their families to school and community resources; Maintain communication with administration, teachers, students, and families.
Minimum qualifications for employment are as follows: Completion of undergraduate core program, public education or social work, behavioral science, child development or comparable education.4 yrs training or experience in supervisory, administrative, managerial, as related to youth development, juvenile corrections/detention and/or public education.Excellent oral communications skills, professional writing ability, and the ability to listen and relate to students and adultsUnderstanding of or be motivated to acquire cultural competency in a high poverty environment. Salary will be based on experience and licensure.The positions will be held open until successful candidates are found.
