Position Summary
The clinical site supervisor along with the director of surgical services is responsible for supervising the daily activities of the Tamarack ambulatory surgery center (ASC). The supervisor will assist the director of surgery to ensure quality and compliance of all policies, procedures, and regulatory agencies. The site supervisor will oversee the daily operations at the Tamarack ASC, which includes direct provision of services for patients undergoing elective interventional, endoscopy, and surgical procedures as well as providing support across multiple perioperative areas including Preop/postop, Operating Room (OR), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Sterile Processing (SPD), and GI/Endoscopy.
The site supervisor will be a clinically competent registered nurse who delivers care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Performs, delegates, and coordinates nursing and technical care provided to patients throughout the health system. Effectively interacts with the patient, their significant others, and healthcare team members while maintaining the standards of professional nursing.
Responsibilities
- When providing direct patient care, acknowledge, transcribe, monitor, and ensure the accurate and timely completion of physician orders.
- Acquire and maintain current knowledge of all equipment and procedures used in the care of patients undergoing elective procedures at the ASC.
- Safely and accurately administer medications within the scope of the RN practice and LMH policy.
- Assist physician with invasive/non-invasive procedures performed in the operating/procedure rooms.
- Ensure appropriate vendor support is available for surgeons (when necessary).
- Direction and supervision of care provided by unlicensed staff.
- Responsible for personal continued education in the field or reprocessing operations and equipment through education, literature, and seminars.
- Promote and support professional certification for sterile processing and endoscopy reprocessing staff.
- Assist with mentoring employees.
- Assist with employee performance oversight and when necessary, assist with conflict resolution solutions.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure for Ohio
- Working towards/or completion of BSN program
- Proven leadership experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the perioperative environment or similar clinical background
- LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
