POSITION: Middle Level Assistant Principal

 

CONTRACTED DAYS: 222

 

RESPONSIBLE TO: Building Principal

JOB GOAL: To work with the building principal and be responsible for carrying out adopted

policies of the board of education. To complete assigned duties by the principal where his or her services are needed to assist in the total operation of the school building.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years administrative experience preferred;
  • Possess an Ohio Administrative License/Certificate for the appropriate position of principal;
  • High performance expectations for students, staff and self;
  • Successful educational leadership roles or comparable experience;
  • Understanding of instructional leadership strategies;
  • Record of educational positions or experience showing increasing responsibilities;
  • Strong instructional leadership background;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with building staff, district staff, parents and community.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assume the general operation of the school during the absence of the school principal.
  2. Implement programs for student discipline and supervision aligned to PBIS.
  3. Attend school functions as directed by the principal.
  4. Work with the principal in the areas of classroom visitation, evaluation and hiring processes for building staff.
  5. Counsel with parents, students, and faculty.
  6. Assist the principal in communication with staff, students, parents, and the community.
  7. Assist the principal in planning and conducting safety drills.
  8. Prepare reports as requested.
  9. Attend meetings as scheduled by the superintendent and principal.
  10. Conduct routine administrative and supervisory tasks as assigned by the principal.
  11. Assist the principal in providing leadership and direction to staff for ongoing evaluation and improvement of educational programs.
  12. Encourage parental involvement in students' education.
  13. Assist the principal in preparing and facilitating state and district assessments
  14. Adheres to Title IX Compliance.
  15. Provides Instructional Leadership for staff by facilitating professional development, providing feedback as a part of instructional rounds and evaluations and supporting the OIP process.
  16. Be responsible for the classification, promotion, or retention of students within the building.
  17. Manages Staff Personnel issues as needed.
  18. Manages Pupil Services related issues including the planning and implementation of programs for the health, safety and welfare of the students in the building and family engagement plan.
  19. Assists in the development and implementation of building policies and procedures as assigned by the building principal.
  20. Assist with hiring coaches when requested by Athletics.
  21. Assist with supervision of Athletic contests when requested.
  22. Assists in the security of the building.
  23. Conduct OTES 2.0 evaluations for Certified Staff members.
  24. Conduct OSCES evaluations for School Counselors.
  25. Attend meetings of the Board of Education at the invitation of the Superintendent.
  26. Assist with oversight of Teacher Based Teams, Building Leadership Teams and MTSS Teams and any other teams.
  27. Perform such other duties as may be directed by the Building Principal or Superintendent.

  • Frequent interruption of duties by students, visitors, staff, and telephones 

EVALUATION: Performance of these responsibilities will be evaluated annually by the building principal.
