POSITION: BILINGUAL AIDE
RESPONSIBLE TO: SUPERVISOR OF PUPIL SERVICES & BUILDING PRINCIPAL

JOB GOAL: Bilingual aides provide academic support for students in the classroom and assist school staff in communication with English Learners, parents and other support services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
? Associates degree preferred
? Individuals who can fluently translate in Nepali, Somali, or Spanish preferred
? License or permit issued by ODE
? Native speaker fluency in another language that meets the needs of the district’s English Learners, as determined by the Supervisor of Pupil Services
? Fluency in English as determined by state requirements and local board policy
? Experience as an educational aide or in the education field preferred
Consistent requirements to lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds
? Willing to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
? Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides translation/interpretation between schools and families.
2. Helps new families transition into the school district.
3. Assists the EL & General teacher(s) to support EL’s within all classroom settings.
4. Provides interpretation for school personnel via written form or audio recording.
5. Assists classroom and content area teachers with communication for EL students.
6. Assists EL’s in the classroom to access the content with teacher guidance.
7. Assists with interpretation of classroom, district and state assessments when needed and allowable.
8. Interprets at parent/teacher conferences and other school organized functions/events.
9. Liaison to community organizations.
10. Participates in professional learning opportunities provided by the district.
11. Abides by all ethical and professional standards.
12. Perform all other duties as assigned by the building principal, Supervisor of Pupil Services, or Superintendent.
13. Perform all other duties that are assigned by the principal/assistant principal and or Supervisor of Pupil Services.
