Position Overview
The English teacher will instruct high school students in courses aligned with Ohio's Academic Learning Standards for English Language Arts, including English Literary Analysis & Argumentative Research and English Narrative & Exposition. Instruction should emphasize analytical reading, research-based writing, storytelling, and effective communication while supporting the unique learning environment of a career center.

Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging instruction, guiding students in rhetorical writing, literary analysis, and structured research practices, narrative techniques, and informative/explanatory writing.
- Foster students' abilities to communicate ideas clearly, creatively, and persuasively through both analytical and narrative writing.
- Design lessons that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world connections between language skills and career pathways.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies and formative assessments to support student learning and engagement.
- Collaborate with academic and career-technical instructors to support interdisciplinary learning and student success.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment that encourages student voice, discussion, and academic growth.
- Valid Ohio teaching license in Integrated Language Arts (7–12) or appropriate English Language Arts certification.
- Strong understanding of Ohio's Academic Learning Standards for ELA.
- Ability to support diverse learners and connect literacy skills to real-world and career-based applications.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
- Experience teaching high school English, particularly grades 11–12.
- Experience working in or collaborating with career-technical education programs.
- Experience co-teaching to support students with IEPs and 504s
