Lichen or Knot, a retail company focused on beautiful surroundings and intentional living, is seeking a passionate, organized, and experienced Receiving Manager for their warehouse and headquarters. This full-time role is ideal for a highly-organized individual with strong communication and leadership skills.
You will be responsible for communications with vendors, organizing the receiving of all merchandise, and supervising the process through . Alongside the Distribution Manager, you will lead a team from the receiving of merchandise and inventory through the quality control and tagging process and ultimately creating beautifully branded merchandise that tells a story.
Job Responsibilities
- Communicates with store owners, vendors, and freight carriers to arrange timely drop-offs of merchandise, supplies, and plants. Arranges workday calendars to ensure adequate coverage for unloading the deliveries and organizing the warehouse receiving room.
- Works alongside the Distribution Manager to organize, process, streamline, and maintain cleanliness and safety in the warehouse.
- Efficiently and accurately enters new data to enter new merchandise, merchandise quantities for plant orders and special vendors, and any special information into the company’s e-commerce system.
- Maintains the company website and ensures that inventory counts are correct across all platforms and all stores. Assists in social media content creations and occasional photography.
- Answers the phone for headquarters and presents a professional, calm, and customer-service focused demeanor to vendors and customers.
- Writes engaging and detailed descriptions of the items being advertised on the website, including accurate dimensions, materials, and other pertinent information.
- Accurately and efficiently processes deliveries, leads quality control initiatives, and prepares for the items to be tagged and ready for store display.
- Checks invoices against items received to ensure payments match up with received merchandise and attaches credits for filing.
- Creates organized filing system for all received invoices and credits.
- Communicates damages and inventory discrepancies with vendors and keeps a closely detailed record of credits from vendors.
- Keeps regular communication with all store managers to discuss inventory adjustments, regular supply needs, troubleshooting IT, and arranging transfers between stores including local merchandise pickups.
- Maintains orders for all office, retail, and packaging supplies; creates purchase orders for new stock and communicates with individual stores to create supply orders.
- Helps with annual inter-store inventory counts.
- Tracks best-selling items to communicate with owners about needed orders to restock brand favorites.
- Alongside the Distribution Manager, will occasionally lead and supervise teams of part-time employees through the processing and tagging systems during peak times.
- Occasionally travels to other stores to assist with training and sales.
Required Experience and Skills
- 3-5 years of experience in retail, inventory management, or warehouse management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized and deadline and detail-oriented.
- Strong computer and technology skills.
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Strong customer service skills.
- Experience with point of sale systems and inventory software.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Shopify or other e-commerce systems, and workflow software.
