Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and culturally sensitive Community Specialist fluent in Arabic to support our community engagement initiatives. This role involves developing and implementing programs that serve Arabic-speaking populations, fostering community relationships, and promoting health and social services. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in program development, and a passion for making a positive impact within diverse communities.
License to Freedom works with refugees and immigrant communities. Our office is located in El Cajon, San Diego. Majority of our clients live in El Cajon and surrounding neighborhoods. We expect the Community Specialist to live in the area or have reliable transportation to be in the area.
Role and Responsibilities
Assisted Enrollment Support
- Complete 25–55 fully assisted enrollments per week (30–45 min average per application) to achieve 100 enrollments per month
- Provide 1:1 in-office application support
- Collect, interpret, and submit required documentation (IDs, proof of eligibility, forms, etc.)
- Coordinate with administering agencies to ensure confirmed application submission
- Support translation/interpretation needs during the application process
Community Outreach & Engagement
- Conduct outreach via:
- Public events
- Phone banking (inbound/outbound calls)
- Door-to-door canvassing
- High-traffic community locations (parks, schools, markets, transit hubs, etc.)
- Partner agency enrollment events
- Communicate program updates with cultural competency and linguistic awareness
- Engage communities authentically to increase participation and trust
Data Tracking & Reporting
- Perform accurate data entry and enrollment logging
- Maintain documentation records for reimbursement eligibility
- Report weekly and monthly enrollment numbers
- Update internal program dashboards and reports on time
- Flag outreach trends, barriers, and client support needs
Cross-Program Pivoting & Scaling
- Quickly pivot between assigned state programs as priorities shift
- Support surge enrollment events to scale outreach
- Maintain flexibility and responsiveness as funding and program focus evolves
Required Qualifications/Experience
- Must be able to speak fluent in Arabic
- Prior work with refugee and immigrant communities
- Experience conducting field-based outreach and enrollment support
Skills
- Strong data entry and data tracking skills
- Comfortable with digital enrollment tools and form submission
- Organized with document collection and client coordination
- Ability to track and confirm successful enrollments
Requirements
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Proof of insurance and ability to travel throughout East County & San Diego region
- Comfortable working outdoors in public environments and door-to-door outreach
- Able to work independently and report deliverables responsibly
- Contract requires 20–30 hours per week minimum availability
