LAC Federal is looking for a Serials Bindery Assistant to join our team at a prominent federal library based in Washington, D.C. This role is perfect for individuals with a solid understanding of serial records and hands-on experience with an Integrated Library System. The position requires on-site work and offers full-time hours.
Responsibilities
- Pulling selected serial titles from the library stacks.
- Preparing serial units for shipment to the bindery.
- Generating digital bindery tickets.
- Creating and updating bibliographic item records and holding summaries in the Integrated Library System (ILS).
- Conducting quality reviews of all pre-bindable units.
- Other duties as assigned.
- At least one year of experience in library technical services.
- Proficiency in using an Integrated Library System, with a preference for Voyager.
- Experience working with serials.
- Ability to analyze and identify serial patterns and records in Cyrillic languages.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds (occasionally up to 35 pounds).
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, sitting, and walking for extended periods.
