New Member Seminar:
Every two years, CRS, in coordination with the House of Representatives, sponsors a four-day seminar for newly-elected Members and their families. The seminar focuses on key issues and legislative procedures that new Members need to understand during their first year in office.
Position Overview – Program Assistant/Coordinator:
We are seeking a Program Assistant/Coordinator to support all aspects of this four-day seminar. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and an effective communicator. This role requires a collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering a high-quality experience for all participants.
This role offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The incumbent will utilize core event planning skills and collaborate with a professional team on a high-impact program.
Responsibilities include:
Logistics:
The incumbent will support a high-profile event by updating invitation materials and assisting with transportation arrangements, room reservations, hotel accommodations, outreach efforts to newly-elected Members, and accurate information tracking. The incumbent will coordinate travel arrangements and communicate details clearly, manage preparation and shipping of materials, and all aspects of speaker communications, including materials and audiovisual needs.
Facilities and Services:
The incumbent will engage hands-on with event operations by conducting site inspections and participating in pre-meeting briefings with staff, vendors, security, and facility providers. Assist with technology requirements to ensure smooth execution of events and conduct post-meeting reviews with staff to identify successes and opportunities for improvement.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Background in event planning
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; experience with events and conferences preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to quickly learn additional software programs as needed
- Excellent proofreading and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced setting
