This position is located in the Protective Services Division of the Security and Emergency Preparedness Directorate (SEPD), Office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), and reports directly to the Chief, Protective Services. The incumbent serves as the technical subject matter expert for hardware, lock and keying for the Library of Congress three buildings on Capitol Hill and branches in Culpeper, VA and Ft. Meade, MD.
The incumbent installs, repairs, and maintains mechanical high-security locking systems and safes. Serves as the key manager for master key systems and oversees the key control programs which includes key issuance, tracking, auditing and accountability. Cuts replacement keys and managing key tracking databases to maintain strict security compliance. Installs new and modern locks and replaces or services worn or outdated security locks and systems. Conducts short and long-range planning or maintenance and implements replacement programs for locks and security devices. Monitors and evaluates physical security systems and hardware to identify vulnerabilities and serves as the program manager for building re-keys.
