Job Description: The school psychologist serves as a critical member of the educational team for determining student eligibility for special education services. The school psychologist takes a leadership role by facilitating special education and/or 504 accommodation meetings in the role of LEA at times, ensuring collaborative and clear engagement with students, families and staff, and compliance with procedures, methods and timelines in accordance with federal laws, Illinois statutes, and other guidelines.
Assignment: 1.0 FTE
Reports to: District Director of Special Services and Student Services Administration

Qualifications:

- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL), School Psychologist endorsement
- Clinical Psychologist licensure preferred but not required
|
Calendar: 185 days with additional compensation for summer evaluation workload if/as needed
Evening duties: Shared responsibility for evening supervision of school events

- Conduct evaluations using developmentally and culturally relevant and appropriate assessments and protocols to determine student eligibility for special education and related services
- Knowledge of assessment tools for intelligence and achievement testing, and behavioral assessment scales, as well as objective personality tests, and other psychometric tools
- Current knowledge and experience in evaluating, developing and implementing interventions for students in Grades 9-12 through age 22 with identified special education needs in a broad range of disability areas
- Provide clear and specific explanations of evaluation results and recommendations based on the audience (student, parent, staff) with strong writing and oral skills
- Ability to communicate effective instructional strategies and interventions, based on synthesis of academic, cognitive, and/or behavioral assessment data
- Knowledge of standardized test administration and interpretation procedures
- Collaborate in the development of procedures to guide the Individual Education Plan Team process
- Collaborate with community agencies/organizations in order to connect students and families with resources
- Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations regarding education and other related services, especially regarding special education and eligibility criteria
- Serve as the Local Education Agency Representative at special education and 504 Plan meetings
- Collaborate with case managers and special services programmatic teams by contributing to the development, implementation and monitoring of behavioral intervention plans through direct service, consultation, or development of objectives
- Support the implementation of RtI and direct counseling services to students
- Consult with a variety of teams in providing immediate services and counseling for students and families in the event of a tragedy or violent event, or provide immediate intervention for students who are at risk to self or others
- Serve as a member of the Threat Assessment Team at designated schools
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a variety of people in a culturally and demographically diverse educational environment
