Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant serves as a key financial partner, working closely with the Regional Controller and collaborating with regional and site leadership teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, support operational decision-making, and drive financial performance. This position is responsible for managing general ledger activities, supporting the month-end close process, performing account reconciliations, preparing financial analyses, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies
- Compile, analyze, and interpret financial data to support business operations and management decision-making
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and ad hoc analyses
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
- Assist with consolidation and intercompany accounting activities
- Partner with operational and regional leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations
- Support annual audits and provide required documentation to external auditors
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting regulations, and corporate policies
- Utilize Sage 500 ERP and other financial systems to manage accounting and reporting functions
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and financial controls
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience required
- Strong experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, month-end close, and account reconciliations
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, recycling, logistics, or supply chain environments preferred
- Experience working with ERP systems required; Sage 500 experience preferred
- Power Query, Power Pivot, and Power BI experience preferred
- CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus
