Experienced Tax Preparer – Seasonal
Liberty Tax is seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to join our Essexville, MI office for the upcoming 2027 tax season. We are looking for someone who has previous hands-on tax preparation experience and is comfortable working directly with clients to prepare accurate individual tax returns.
Position: Experienced Tax Preparer
Location: Essexville, MI – 2 positions available
Hours: 35-40 hours per week; flexible scheduling available
Season: Late December 2026 through April 15, 2027
Job Type: Temporary/Seasonal
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate federal, state, and local individual income tax returns.
- Review client tax documents and financial information for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify applicable deductions, credits, and other tax-saving opportunities.
- Interview clients to gather necessary information and answer tax-related questions.
- Provide friendly, professional customer service throughout the tax preparation process.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client and financial information.
- Stay current with tax law changes and complete any required trainings.
- Work independently while also collaborating with other members of our tax office team.
- Maintain an active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) through the IRS.
Qualifications:
- Previous professional tax preparation experience required.
- Experience preparing individual federal and state income tax returns.
- Familiarity with tax preparation software and common tax documents.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable working directly with clients and discussing personal financial information.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients during the busy tax season.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid PTIN through the IRS.
- CPA or accounting degree not required.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly pay based on experience, plus an end-of-season bonus.
