Join Our Team as Refractory Lead!
Are you an experienced refractory professional who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced steelmaking environment? Do you take pride in leading a team to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality refractory work? Liberty Steel and Wire USA is looking for a driven Refractory Lead to join our Melt Shop team and play an essential role in keeping our steelmaking operations running strong.
What You'll Do
- Lead and direct refractory crews during maintenance, repairs, and rebuilds.
- Assign daily tasks and coordinate manpower to meet production schedules.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to refractory technicians and masons.
- Oversee installation and repair of refractory systems (EAF components, ladles, tundishes, preheaters).
- Monitor refractory wear and determine repair or replacement needs.
- Ensure proper communication between refractory, melt shop, and maintenance teams.
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA compliance during all activities.
- Maintain accurate records of refractory usage, campaigns, and repair history.
- Train new employees
What We're Looking For:
Experience: 5 years in refractory installation or steel mill maintenance.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of refractory materials and steelmaking equipment.
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Proven leadership ability or prior lead experience.
Mindset:

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steelmaking.
- Previous supervisory experience in a melt shop.
