Join Our Team as Refractory Lead!

Are you an experienced refractory professional who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced steelmaking environment? Do you take pride in leading a team to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality refractory work? Liberty Steel and Wire USA is looking for a driven Refractory Lead to join our Melt Shop team and play an essential role in keeping our steelmaking operations running strong.

What You'll Do

• Lead and direct refractory crews during maintenance, repairs, and rebuilds.
• Assign daily tasks and coordinate manpower to meet production schedules.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to refractory technicians and masons.
• Oversee installation and repair of refractory systems (EAF components, ladles, tundishes, preheaters).
• Monitor refractory wear and determine repair or replacement needs.
• Ensure proper communication between refractory, melt shop, and maintenance teams.
• Enforce company safety policies and OSHA compliance during all activities.
• Maintain accurate records of refractory usage, campaigns, and repair history.
• Train new employees 

What We're Looking For:

Experience:  5 years in refractory installation or steel mill maintenance.

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of refractory materials and steelmaking equipment.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Proven leadership ability or prior lead experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steelmaking.
• Previous supervisory experience in a melt shop.
• Knowledge of refractory dry-out procedures.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment and crane operations.
