Plant Operator 2 (4035)

This position is for a Plant Operator II whose responsibilities include: ensuring the Engineering power plant operates in a safe and reliable manner in accordance with accreditation standards, federal, state, and local regulations organizational and departmental policies and procedures.  This position reports to the Plant and Engineering Supervisor.

1. Operates power plant (boiler, chiller, and generator) in accordance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
2. Responds to utility failures promptly, safely, and efficiently to restore operation to plant operating systems.
3. Performs chemical tests on all systems in the plant.
4. Performs periodic inspections of all mechanical equipment.
5. Performs general maintenance and minor repairs to facility mechanical equipment.
6. Assist in the coordination of major repairs with contractors of mechanical equipment.
7. Maintains documentation of all related activities for this position (work orders, inspection reports, chemical analysis, daily logs, etc.)
8. Participate in department on-call schedule for emergency calls.
9. Assesses the appearance of the interior and exterior of buildings and reports the findings to the supervisor.
10. Repairs and replaces interior finishes as needed, i.e., sheet rock, ceiling tiles, floor tiles, wallpaper, etc.
11. Performs general maintenance repairs on plumbing fixtures, door hardware, millwork and furniture.

       1. Minimum level of Education: Educational Level equivalent to completion of high school preferred.

1. Formal Training: Some technical or vocational training preferred.

1. Licensure, Certifications & Registration: Valid Class C Driver’s License required.

1. Work Experience:  Intermediate skills in use of power tools and application of finish materials, i.e., paint, VWC, VCT, sheet vinyl, etc. Two years' experience in basic maintenance of boilers, pumps, air compressors, and HVAC systems, required
