The Social Studies Teacher (part-time) serves as a middle school teacher to support student success by planning and delivering instruction in academic or skill-based subjects, supervising students, collaborating with staff to address classroom needs, and communicating with parents about student progress.
This is a part-time position reporting to the Principal - Middle School
Job Duties
- Administers assessments to evaluate student skills and plan instruction.
- Communicates student progress with parents to support learning at home.
- Reviews test data to improve student achievement.
- Tracks student progress to provide feedback and seek support if needed.
- Collaborates with staff, families, and community to improve student outcomes.
- Counsels students to support personal, academic, and social development.
- Demonstrates instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
- Adapts lessons to meet individual learning needs.
- Supervises support staff to ensure effective classroom instruction.
- Creates engaging learning experiences to support student success.
- Teaches students academic content through a set curriculum.
- Engages regularly with students to foster learning.
- Maintains records to document progress and meet legal requirements.
- Manages behavior to maintain a safe, effective classroom.
- Monitors students in various settings to ensure safety and support.
- Attends meetings to share and gather information for job duties.
- Prepares reports and documents to track progress and meet requirements.
- Reports incidents to ensure student safety and policy compliance.
- Responds to emergencies to address safety and direct assistance.
- Answers questions to provide information and resolve concerns.
Requirements
- Prior job-related experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
- Valid Missouri State Teaching Certificate required.
- Ongoing professional development and continuing education units as required by the district or state.
- Must pass a Criminal Justice fingerprint/background check.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
