Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Build & Lead a Growing Practice
Wilmington, NC | $90,000 – $120,000 Bonus

This is an opportunity for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer who wants more than another project-management position.
We're looking for a North Carolina PE who can lead technically, develop client relationships, mentor engineers, and help build a growing Geotechnical Services practice from the ground up.
You'll have a seat at the table, direct access to company leadership, and the opportunity to put your fingerprints on how the department operates and grows.
What You'll Do
You'll combine hands-on geotechnical engineering with leadership and client management, including:

- Lead subsurface investigations, soil borings, test pits, and groundwater evaluations
- Perform bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, foundation, pavement, and retaining structure analyses
- Develop foundation and site-development recommendations
- Prepare and review geotechnical reports and technical documentation
- Coordinate drilling subcontractors, field technicians, and testing activities
- Manage projects from initial proposal through final delivery
- Serve as a trusted technical contact for clients
- Establish technical standards, SOPs, and QA/QC procedures
- Mentor junior engineers and field personnel
- Assist with staffing and equipment planning as the department expands
- Support proposals, presentations, and business development
- Work alongside environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, and permitting professionals

What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline
- North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 7 years of geotechnical engineering experience
- Strong background in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and subsurface investigations
- Experience managing projects, budgets, schedules, and clients
- Ability to prepare and review professional engineering reports
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Leadership ability and an interest in mentoring others
- A business-minded approach to developing client relationships and growing a practice
