Operating at the intersection of business strategy and technical development, the Data Solutions team works closely with senior leadership, IT, finance, marketing, distribution, and product teams to simplify and expand the company’s ability to understand both where we’ve been and where we are going. By designing, building, and implementing centralized data, planning, and reporting solutions, we play a key role in connecting our USRM functions in a meaningful and impactful way.

As a Sr Data Solutions Analyst on our Data Solutions team, you'll sit at the intersection of finance and technology — designing the SQL/Python pipelines, Snowflake models, and Power BI dashboards that power enterprise planning, forecasting, and budgeting for USRM. You won't just build reports; you'll own the technical vision for how finance leadership understands where the business has been and where it's going, working hands-on with stakeholders across IT, finance, marketing, and distribution.
**This role may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location**
Candidates who live within 50 miles of Boston, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Seattle, WA; Columbus, OH; or Plano, TX will follow a hybrid schedule, coming into the office two days per week. Otherwise, this role is remote.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain SQL/Python-based data pipelines, models, and dashboards that support enterprise planning, forecasting, and budgeting solutions
- Own the technical architecture and design decisions for assigned data solutions, from requirements through deployment
- Manage multiple projects in parallel to implement system enhancements and new enterprise application solutions
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement innovative, data-driven solutions that increase process efficiency
- Gather and translate business requirements into technical specifications, and validate solutions through testing and user acceptance criteria
- Analyze existing tools, processes, and data sources to identify and resolve gaps in accuracy, latency, and reliability
- Mentor junior analysts and contractors, providing technical guidance and code/design review to raise the team’s overall capability
- Lead continuous improvement efforts across business processes, systems, and reporting infrastructure
- Prepare and present regular status updates on ongoing projects and solutions to stakeholders and leadership
- Create and maintain technical and process documentation, and lead end-user training
- Perform monthly data load and validation activities for book close — develop automated and AI solutions to drive efficiencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong hands-on proficiency in SQL and Python with experience building and maintaining data pipelines or models
- Experience with Snowflake (or a comparable cloud data warehouse)
- Experience with Power BI (or a comparable BI/reporting tool)
- Experience with SAS and Office 365
- Solid understanding of finance and accounting concepts, and experience supporting FP&A, planning, or budgeting processes
- Demonstrated experience mentoring or leading the work of other analysts or contractors
- Highly motivated self-starter with strong ownership, curiosity, and a track record of following through on commitments
- Strong communicator able to translate between technical and business stakeholders
- Proven experience proposing and executing innovative ideas through to completion
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects under demanding deadlines
- Strong situational analysis, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities
- Experience with Jira and Confluence, which are heavily used in this role
- Strong written and oral communication skills required
- Bachelor`s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline preferred
- Master`s in same or related disciplines strongly preferred
- 3-5 years experience in coding for data management, data warehousing, or other data environments, including, but not limited to, working in NoSQL implementation, ETL, Java, scripting languages (Python, Perl, Shell), and the Hadoop stack
Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
