What are the responsibilities and job description for the Portfolio Product Owner - GenAI Platforms position at Liberty Mutual Insurance Group?
Act as the Overall Product Lead (OPL) for Liberty's GenAI platform portfolio guiding strategic clarity and cohesion, enterprise alignment and outcome delivery Translate Liberty's 2030 enterprise goals into actionable GenAI platform strategies to support both "Everyday AI" (employee augmentation) and capabilities enablement for AI-powered business transformation Shape and evolve the end-to-end platform roadmap: foundational models, orchestration layers, agent frameworks and integration guardrails Aligned to business unit visions, strategies, and priorities to set and communicate a compelling, measurable vision and direction for shared GenAI capabilities Own platform performance, tracking KPIs, outcomes, and financial metrics (labor, compute, licenses) in partnership with our AIFinOps team Contribute meaningful insights that will shape the investment and vendor strategy (e.g., OpenAI, Microsoft, AWS, etc.) Strategic & Technical Depth in GenAI Deep understanding of GenAI system architecture: foundation models (open/closed), RAG, vector databases, agents, orchestration layers, etc. Familiarity with leading platforms: Azure OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, LangChain, LlamaIndex, open-source stacks Track record of evaluating build-vs-buy decisions in emerging tech spaces Knowledge of model development lifecycle: prompt tuning, evaluation, hallucination/bias testing, release gating Demonstrated product management, product mindset, and UX design, in emerging, rapidly evolving technologies Track record of bringing AI/ML solutions from PoC to scaled enterprise deployment Rigor in experimentation: hypothesis-driven, metrics-led, and focused on productionalization Bias for product thinking over project execution -- reusable platform assets over bespoke builds Bias for platform thinking: reuse> reinvention, scale> bespoke Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., insurance, finance, healthcare) Business expertise and knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management as typically acquired through a Bachelor's degree in relevant field (business, computer science, etc.) and a minimum of 10 years' experience in business, engineering, technology and/or consulting. Master's degree preferred. Experience working with global delivery models and enterprise-scale stakeholder groups Financial acumen to manage multi-million-dollar platform portfolios Expertise in the Insurance and Investments industries preferred Deep executive communication skills with a "learn-it-all" mindset History of building and scaling technical teams: ML engineers, platform architects, governance SMEs Demonstrated comfort experimenting with non-consensus ideas and frontier use cases Brings a unique perspective -- not locked into one vendor's narrative or roadmap Design and run prioritization and intake processes supporting both use case enablement and "everyday AI" end-user adoption that balance aspiration with risk appetite and regulatory compliance Support business unit technology teams in their AI use case implementation via well managed foundational components aligned with enterprise architecture standards Provide input to risk experts to enable the evolution of controls and risk frameworks in support of this fast-moving space Experienced operator in matrixed organizations, able to influence without authority Boardroom-ready communicator with executive presence and deep technical fluency Effective at change management and organizational storytelling to demystify AI and drive adoption
