Duties
As a Direct Support Professional, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Providing patient care and monitoring vital signs to ensure the well-being of residents.
- Supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in community integration and social activities.
- Implementing care plans tailored to each resident's needs and preferences.
- Administering medication as prescribed and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Engaging in patient observation to identify changes in behavior or health status.
- Assisting with cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and hygienic living environment.
- Utilizing equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
- Offering companionship and emotional support to enhance residents' mental well-being.
- Respite pay rate may vary based on case
Experience
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes.
- Knowledge of caregiving practices including Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and memory care techniques.
- Skills in cooking and meal preparation tailored to dietary needs.
- Familiarity with home health services and hospice care practices.
- A background in social work or nursing is a plus, along with certifications in First Aid and CPR.
