Responsibilities
- Assist clients in navigating housing programs such as Section 8 and other subsidized housing options
- Conduct assessments to determine client eligibility based on LIHTC, Fair Housing regulations, and landlord-tenant law
- Negotiate lease agreements between tenants and landlords, ensuring fair terms for all parties
- Provide crisis intervention and crisis management support to clients facing housing instability or emergencies
- Educate clients on their rights under Fair Housing laws and Section 8 policies
- Maintain accurate records using property management software such as Yardi or OneSite
- Collaborate with landlords, property managers, and community agencies to facilitate housing placements
- Offer addiction counseling referrals and support services as needed to promote stability
- Apply motivational interviewing techniques to empower clients toward self-sufficiency and housing retention
- Stay informed about updates in housing legislation, including landlord-tenant law and Section 8 regulations
Experience
- Prior experience in social work, property management, or related fields preferred
- Knowledge of LIHTC programs, Section 8 housing, and Fair Housing regulations required
- Experience with negotiation, crisis intervention, and crisis management highly desirable
- Familiarity with property management systems such as Yardi or OneSite is a plus
- Strong understanding of addiction counseling principles and motivational interviewing techniques preferred
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
