Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Excavation Superintendent to lead and manage on-site field operations for excavation and site development projects. The Superintendent will oversee crews, manage equipment and materials, coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, and ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily excavation site operations and manage field personnel and equipment.
- Interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure proper execution of work.
- Coordinate scheduling of work, crews, and subcontractors to meet deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
- Inspect work progress, identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Maintain accurate records of labor, equipment, materials, and project progress.
- Communicate regularly with Project Managers, clients, inspectors, and engineers.
- Participate in site meetings, provide updates, and contribute to problem-solving.
- Train, mentor, and supervise crew members, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of field experience in excavation, heavy civil, or sitework construction.
- Proven leadership experience as a Foreman, Superintendent, or similar supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of excavation techniques, utility installation, grading, and equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Solid understanding of OSHA and other applicable safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work in various outdoor conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CDL or heavy equipment certifications.
- Experience with GPS grade control systems.
